Four species of solitary caryophylliid scleractinia (Caryophyllia ambrosia, C. scobinosa C. alaskensis, and Polymyces montereyensis) are described, for the first time, from the Okhotsk Sea shelf of the Kuril Islands. The findings of
these corals extend their geographic ranges, which for three of them were previously limited to tropical and warm waters of
the Indo-Pacific, and are an addition to regional check-lists of the benthic communities fauna of the most productive and intensively exploited temperate northern Pacific shelf. (Biologiya Morya, Vladivostok, 2004, vol. 30, no. 6, pp. 473–476).

Reattachment process in the bivalves Crenomytilus grayanus and Modiolus modiolus involves several successive
stages, which take in vitro about one month at 19 ± 2ºC. In comparison with C. grayanus, M. modiolus had higher rates
of byssus thread production and a larger number of byssal threads by the end of the byssus complex formation. The differences can be explained by the adaptation of mussels for life in different biotopes. (Biologiya Morya, Vladivostok,
