Gold Treasures
Thousands of years ago people discovered gold in rivers.
They learnt to make plates, cups and jewellery from this
precious metal. There was a lot of gold in places around
the Red Sea. Egypt was one of these places. In ancient
times, the Egyptians buried their kings in tombs. They
buried jewels and gold objects in the tombs along with
their dead kings. People found the gold mask of
Tutankhamun in King Tutankhamun`s tomb.
The Inca people lived thousands of years ago in the
Andes Mountains of South America. They were very
clever people and built cities and roads. They also had a
lot of gold which they found in rivers in the mountains.
The Inca people made many beautiful things from gold.
