школы, но и у молодых людей всего мира. Это
исследование
сделает
данные
проблемы
более
актуальными и яркими в нашей школе и поможет
определить стратегии их решения (предупреждён значит вооружён)
I think that teenagers have many problems. One of the main
problems is misunderstanding between the older generation and
teenagers. They say that young people are selfish, greedy, lazy, freak
and rude. What's more teenagers behave badly and a vast majority of
teenagers take drugs, smoke and drink alcohol. But in my opinion this is
a myth. There are many young people who are clever, hardworking,
caring and kind. Meeting such teenagers makes a big impression.
Teenagers also have problems with teachers at school. Not all the
teachers understand their pupils. Teachers often give a lot of homework
and teenagers become tired. Some teachers come to school with their
personal problems and it affects pupils.
The next problem is relationship in the family. Parents can't always
understand their children because there is no mutual understanding.
Parents think that their children listen to bad music. But I think this is
wrong. An English proverb says
"Tastes differ". Teenagers don't follow advice of their parents. And
parents think that they are naughty.
Many teenagers are worried about their appearance. Some of them
think they are too thin, some think they are too fat. They often think they
are much too tall or much too short. And they want to change.
Choosing a profession is also a problem. It's difficult to find an ideal
job. It should be well -paid and interesting. People should like their job.
But in my opinion it's possible to solve all these problems if you are
young and full of energy.
Nowadays a lot of teenagers and even children experiment with
alcohol for a variety of reasons. Some teens start because they
associate drinking with adulthood. Curiosity might be the most frequent
reason for drinking alcohol. Some teenagers also complain about stress
at school. Some teenagers say that the more teachers and parents warn
them not to drink the more eager they are to try.
Nevertheless I agree that school might be one of the most important
sources of information on the dangers of alcohol.
Why should smoking be banned? First of all, smoking leads to such
illnesses as lung cancer and heart disease. Passive smokers, particularly
children suffer even more than smokers themselves. Children start
smoking because they copy adults and want to seem more grown-up.
Secondly, buying cigarettes every day is a significant but unnecessary
expense for the family as in the West a packet of cigarettes is rather
expensive. However, in Russia a smoker has to spend about 20 rubles,
which isn't so much. Finally, when people smoke in public places, they
don't look aesthetic.
On the other hand, there are some arguments against the prohibition
of smoking. Firstly, if smoking was banned, the government would lose
money from the taxes on cigarettes. That money is invested into sports.
For some people smoking a pipe or a cigar has become a part of the
image, for others-a strong addiction. Even though smoking is forbidden
at schools some students smoke because they want to keep company.
Adults feel relaxed when they smoke.
In my opinion, smoking should be banned but gradually. The
government must stop smoking in public places, then in the streets and
at last prohibit it at all.
Every day from our TV we hear about new fashion tendencies, we
read about fashion in newspapers and magazines. Nowadays the word
"fashion" is almost everywhere, but the meaning of it is still rather
ambiguous. Many people say that they try to follow fashion. But there are
so many "fashions" that this phrase can puzzle you.
There is a fashion from a podium. Different designers create clothes
collections and show them at public presentations. The word "collection"
is the best word for those clothes! You can buy some T-shirt for $1000
but the only thing you will do is hanging it like a picture on the wall,
because it is so "fashionable" that it's impossible to put it on.
The other fashion is the so called "glamour fashion", clothes from
foreign designers. Glamour occupied everything nowadays. Small dogs
running away from the vacuum-cleaner not to be killed by it, pink cars,
dark glasses looking like a part of Dart Vader's mask, diamonds,
diamonds and diamonds... it is called fashion too!
There is one more branch of fashion, it belongs to teenagers and it is
very peculiar too. Young people usually say, that "they don't want to be
like others" and ... eventually join one of teenage groups! It is a paradox!
In order to differ from society they create their own society with strict
standards and stereotypes where all members are very much alike - this
is a law! Besides their own style they even create religion for those
groups! Thus the punks say that they don't like laws of society, the Goths
say that they are the only genuine "dark people" whereas the rest of
people are regressive. There are such absurd teenagers as EMO who
say they are "emotional", very kind and very unhappy and our world is so
cruel that it is better to die than continue to live here. All those teenage
groups have their own fashion. And many people enter those groups
only because of their tastes in style, sometimes even without any
understanding of their inner philosophy.
Why do people follow such "fashions"? Why do they wear clothes
which are sometimes uncomfortable for our life conditions or just make
them look like dolls? As for me, I wear only those clothes which suit me
and I choose colors that 1 like- it isn't important if they are popular or not.
Nowadays even if a person follows fashion it doesn't mean that he
looks attractive. The word fashion unfortunately has acquired a negative
connotation - strange as it may seem! Hopefully the things will change in
the future.
