3. Читать (read): Голоса, pp.32-34 5.-7. (prepositional case), pp. 40-41 Vocabulary
4. Устно (orally): Workbook, p. 17-18 O(ral) D(rills) 7, 8
5. Письменно (in writing): Workbook, p. 23-24 ex. 01-12, 01-13; finish the “What’s wrong?” handout.
6. Vocabulary and dialogues Quiz (dialogs 1, 2: English to Russian; dialog 4: Russian to English)
Четверг (Thursday), September 13. Chapter 1(4)

Голоса, pp. 15-16 up to “o” (cursive) + Handout Cursive),
2. Выучить наизусть (memorize) диалоги 1, 2

4. Письменно (in writing): Workbook, p. 11 ex. A-20 (Consult the handout Cursive on the course website
and these two useful sites).
Handout Chapter 1-3: Cursive Connected, Part 1
Workbook, p. 24 ex. 01-14 (in cursive!)
5. Читать: Голоса p. 37, 1-31. Read and answer the questions. You are not expected to understand every word.
The purpose of this exercise is to develop specific strategies for finding specific information in a Russian text.
6. Print out all the documents marked with “Chapter 1/5”
WEEK 4

1. Диалоги 1, 2, 4, 3 (translate this one; be ready for a quiz)

3. Handout Chapter 1-4: Cursive Connected, Part 3 (Consult the Summary of handwriting hints in Голоса, p.16,
our handout, and web sites from Tuesday’s homework)
Workbook, p. 26 ex. 01-16 (in cursive!). Be ready for a quiz on prepositional case.

5. Голоса: p. 37-38, 1-32. Read and answer the questions.
Четверг (Thursday), September 20 .
1. Review Chapter 1 and do Practice Test online.
2. Make up a dialog that deals with topics of Chapter 1 (Read instructions in the handout titled Мыльная Опера
‘Soap Opera’, available online)
3. EXTRA CREDIT: Video Assignment "The Kitten Named Woof"
